Prom - A Reboo.

Disney's latest attempt at a movie - Prom - should have been left as a high school play.  The movie is tragically dull.  It is like watching a few hours of TBS on Lifetime television.  And like a typical prom, 3% enjoyed the evening (watching the film) while 97% went home and wished they had never gone.

The movie is sub-par.  Just because Disney releases a movie these days, does not mean it is worth seeing.  We have been plagued with Mars Needs Moms, African Cats, and now Prom...I don't even care to look up what is next.

"Prom" gave us an unrealistic high school setting with cheesy acting and script.  We did get good laughs at moments and an Edward 'n' Bella relationship in the hour and a half of "Prom", but the popcorn and soda are the only things that brought out any lasting enjoyment from the screening.

Don't see it.  This was like Glee on an anti-depressant, meeting Twilight only with worse acting.  This tragic production will pull 1 out of 5 Cyclones.

Fast Five Feedback

Yes, see it.  Besides the typically unrealistic adventures and driving and shooting and etc, the movie was great.  The humor blended with the action and love story just fine.  The audience and critics were pleased alike.

The scene with the safe was keeping viewers on the edge of their seats.  The racing was a bit less than we hoped for.  The footage after the credits was worth sticking around for.  Sets up Part 6 with a flair.

You will get all the characters in the installment with all the action you are expecting.  The movie will drag on for an extra half hour and then another half hour after it could have been edited and shortened.  In the days of brutal cuts to films, this one kept too much on the reel.  But we enjoy it.

Go see it and make sure to go to the bathroom before the movie.  It is hard to find a time to go during the film.  Worth the money and time, especially if you are a fan of the earlier installments. Fast Five will pull 4 out of 5 Cyclones.  A pleasant surprise.

Fast Five trivia

Justin Lin directs a college tv show.

The Rock plays a cop type character in a couple of movies.

Vin Diesel is a blind guy in a movie series.

KNOW THE INFO.

Water for Elephants

Starring Reese Witherspoon, Robert Pattinson, Christoph Waltz. This adaptation is about a veterinary student who abandons his studies after his parents are killed and joins a traveling circus as their vet.

It is really an hour and a half of R.P. closeups and a wonderful performance by Christoph Waltz. The adaptation was less than admirable, but the overall production was beautiful. If you enjoyed the book, and don't want to ruin that experience, then don't see the movie. There was no way to fit the whole book into this movie. They would need multiple installments like Twilight...for the full R.P. effect.

The movie was good. Great for all ages. Not so great for critics and book lovers. "Water for Elephants" will earn 4 out of 5 Cyclones for not having many theatrical flaws, but merely for failing to put man-liner on Pattinson's eyes. Go see it.

African Cats, not quite puurrrrfect

The movie was great, but why has Disney been focusing so much time and attention to death in their films?  Some viewer trauma can be expected as with Disney's last film "Mars Needs Moms."  The stories of the cats are well put together and the cinematography is well done.  The stories are not as concrete as "March of the Penguins" but we are entertained for the hour and a half of this movie.

Audience members were crying, scared and laughing throughout.  The narration was subtle and well done; however, I did not get the soundtrack i was hoping for.  After traveling to see this film, I did feel as though I would have been better off watching PBS at home for the same content.  You may be better served with Born to be Wild at the IMAX for a nature film.

If "African Cats" comes to your town, and the kids want to see a movie, don't hold back on getting into see it, but don't stray too far to try and to make the show.  "African Cats" will pull 3 out of 5 Cyclones.

RIO getting railed

Booooo... Stay at home and rent Ice Age.  Rio dragged through the mud and the 3D did little to nothing to enhance a boring movie.

Some of the potential enjoyment (of the voice-overs) were so small in the picture that was all we were left wanting besides our money back (even though CycloneMovies.com is always free.)  George Lopez, Will.i.am and others did well, but could not sell the dull story.

The kids love it because they don't really care what happens in the story.  Just so long as animated objects don't die and there are colors, they are happy.  In those terms, the movie met its purpose.  Adults can bring a Kindle and read throughout the movie while the kids watch it, just make sure to remove your 3D glasses before trying to accomplish the reading.

Send the grandparents with the kids and get something else done while the kids are gone.  This way you can enjoy the movie as much as the kids.

Rio pulls 1 out of 5 Cyclones.

SCRE4M Review

Scream fans, get your damned tickets!  This is it....well maybe not. Having to wait a decade for the follow up was not the best marketing, but if you loved #1-3, then why not get some more from #4??  Yes, all the regulars are back, I think.  If you know who did it in the others, you will figure this out before he,she, them is/are revealed in #4.

If you get confused between Stab movies, Final Destination movies, and Scream movies, you might wanna finda  bridge to jump off of, because it doesn't get any easier to distinguish.  This Scream-make/Shreek-quel is as good as can be expected.  Viewers will laugh at the cheesy lines and actions.  There are not many parts to make you jump out of your seat but that may be because you are making out, sleeping, or eating the popcorn during the movie.  It is also a sad depiction of today's youth....

It is good and worth seeing. I loved it, but also have to acknowledge how the movie was intended.  SCRE4M will pull 4 out of 5 Cyclones.

Mid-week afternoon press screenings just aren't as much fun or enjoyable without our 'Clones!!!!

Source Code Review

A bit tardy, yes.  But paying to see the movie makes me a bit more partial to paying attention to it.

Jake Gyllenhaal does another standard performance.  Something to enjoy, but nothing to write home about.  The story was a bit "holey" in that things were wanted and negelected by this viewer. The action and acting was all standard to well done. It was like "Jarhead" and "Jumper" meet "Groundhog Day," my apologies to the quality movies for the comparison.

Gyllenhaal is in the military, inserted into a project, does his job, and is terminated. The action and life surround him.

This mediocre review is about all the movie can muster.  "Source Code" will pull 3 out of 5 Cyclones for being enjoyable, but falling short in the final cut.  It is worth the time and money to see in theatres.

Hanna - Review

Wow.  Well done: action, soundtrack, acting.

The movie does what viewers wanted.  I don't believe I overheard any displeasure, and I was certainly entertained and pleased with the nearly two hours in front of the screen watching it.

The actors put on a good show.  Despite the few holes in the story and the arbitrary flickering lights throughout the film, the feelings were intense.  Chemical Brothers did the soundtrack justice.  An Academy Award nod for the score and soundtrack???  Viewers were entertained.

At times we are left scratching our heads wondering how the story ended up where it did or how it began.  Epileptics may want to wait until the lighting can be adjusted on a television...seriously.  Kids need not attend for the graphic images and intense violence, similar to History of Violence and Transporter.

Hanna will earn 4 out of 5 Cyclones and another trip to the theatre to see it.

Jane Eyre Review

This is a heartwarming story, told and adapted for the screen in a subtle way.  the opening will get you on edge, but then it falls into ... Jane Eyre.  Trauma and love and hardship and a 700 page story onto the big screen.

If you take any young female in today's society and tell the story, it may just as well be as intricate and intense as this Jane Eyre adaptation. The actresses who filled the Jane Eyre roles did MAGNIFICENT (Swanner and Judd will enjoy this.)

The audience's demographics were as expected.  The theatre only half-full (empty) as expected for a classic story such as this.  It was a decent film, but lacked much climax.  It was heartwarming for the full few hours.  Don't miss work or sleep to see it, you can always wait for Lifetime to air it on the television in a few years.

Jane Eyre will pull 3 out of 5 Cyclones for giving the viewers what they want, without much more.
